Within the monument there is an exhibition on the Afrikaners in the 20th century. very interesting exhibition. One thing I took from there is the pride the Afrikaans community portrays towards thier country and culture. As we walked through the monuments grounds ms. madam was compalining about the heat, so off we went to the Ice cream vendors, now these guys made a killing. There was a crowd around all their cycles, Reconciliation day was definitely a good day for business.
Unfotunately we missed the highlight of the day(at 12 o'clock on the 16th of December only, a ray of sunlight shines through the opening in the upper dome of the monument onto the cenotaph) but we went to the top of the monument to see the different angles of Tshwane. It was a fun but hot day, It was one of those days were you are happy and proud to be South African.

Nice story. As I am not from SA I am curious to know: What are melkkos and biltongs?
melkkos is a type of soup made from milk, with a bit of butter and flour, not sure about the full recipe tough, it tastes something like butternut soup but with lumps. Biltong is dried meat game or otherwise, must try when you get to South Africa.
