With this year's most anticipated event on our shores, it is important that we highlight a few pointers on having a happy and safe stay in South Africa. There are a couple of factors that you have to take in mind when travelling to South Africa.
It maybe summer in the Northern Hemisphere, however in South Africa we are about to get into our winter months, the world cup will be in winter, so do bring along your winter clothes with. The temperatures are in the range of 16° C (during the day) to 4°C (at night) and peak at 23°C(during the day) -8°C (at night)
For safety reasons it is advisable that you stay in pairs when you go around. most of the venues that will be visited are considered to be safe, however there are a feww pointers you should follow.
• Don’t attract attention to yourself(wearing flashy clothes)
• Keep camera’s and other valuables close to you
• If you are not going on a safari don’t wear safari gear.(it just screams tourist)
• Public drinking is illegal in South Africa and offenders will be arrested
There may be some people out there still wandering if it is safe for them to come to the country or not. If the country was not safe FIFA wouldn't have awarded the Bid to South Africa. There is nothing wrong with fearing the unknown, there will be two options when you make your decision. you can either stay at home *scared* and enjoy the game from the comfort your leaving room. or you can come to the motherland to see the beautiful game, this is a potent combination.
The passion at the stadiums can not be felt on screen, you will have to experience the beautiful people of this country and our preparation for your visit. and remember "Life is for living and not living uptight."

Hey Neo
You are so right ! Best place to be right now is in SA, with all the falgs flying and fans dressed in their favourite team supporter shirts. You can really start feeling thebuzz. And, yes brind those winter coats and scarves - it's chilli here - except for sunny Durban. Cheers Sonja
